"Felix in the Swim" ist ein Felix-the-Cat-Stummfilm aus dem Jahr 1922 (veroeffentlicht am 1. Juli 1922), produziert im Studio von Pat Sullivan und vertrieben von Margaret J. Winklers Verleih (M. J. Winkler). Otto Messmer war fuer Konzept und Animation verantwortlich. Die Handlung beginnt damit, dass Felix auf eine Maus trifft, deren Schwanz in einer Mausefalle steckt. Statt sie zu fressen, laesst Felix sich erweichen und befreit das Tier. Anschliessend will Felix seinen kleinen Menschenfreund Willie zum Schwimmen im alten Schwimmloch abholen, doch dessen Mutter befiehlt dem Jungen, stattdessen Klavier zu ueben. Aus Dankbarkeit organisiert die zuvor gerettete Maus weitere Maeuse, die auf den Klaviertasten spielen und so die Uebungsmusik vortaeuschen - dadurch kann Willie heimlich mit Felix zum Schwimmen entkommen. Der Film veranschaulicht typische Felix-Motive der fruehen 1920er: Hilfsbereitschaft, die belohnt wird, sowie die elastische, einfallsreiche Bewegungsanimation Messmers. Felix the Cat, 1919 entstanden, war der erste internationale Zeichentrickstar und praegte die Bildsprache des fruehen Cartoons massgeblich. Felix then goes to fetch his young human friend Willie for a swim at the old swimming hole, but Willie's mother orders the boy to practice piano instead. In gratitude, the rescued mouse gathers other mice to play the piano keys and fake the practice music, letting Willie slip away to swim with Felix.
